Benefit Goodies A Go-Go Palette Review

12 Dec

This Benefit Goodies A Go-Go palette has to be my new favourite at the moment. I’m into the natural make-up look right now and these colours are perfect. The shadows are different shades of beige and browns, which have a little shimmer.

Benefit palette comes with:

  • 4 eyeshadows
  • Mini Stay Dont Stray primer
  • Mini They’re Real mascara

The packaging is a light weight tin box which I think is original and practical as its very secure.

The eyeshadows last all day and don’t smudge or fade. The colour goes on quite lightly which I like because it can be built up with layers if a more dramatic look is required.

The Stray Don’t Stray primer is one of my favourites as it goes on smoothly and keeps the shadows locked down.

I was late on the bandwagon with the They’re Real mascara but I have finally bought into the hype and can agree that it is an amazing mascara. I am not a huge fan of the stiff plastic brushes but this mascara can be layered for thickness and the brush perfectly separates them.

This Benefit Goodies A Go-Go palette is a perfect present to Christmas as it’s inexpensive and contains brilliant products. Or just a little treat for yourself! I will definitely be using this makeup for the next few months!

Review: NEW! Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede Lipstick

20 May

Revlon ColourStay Suede Lipstick

I love nearly all of Revlon’s makeup so I was really excited when I stumbled across there new range of ColorStay Ultimate Suede Lipsticks in Boots. I went a little crazy and bought all the shades they had in store. Obsessed with Revlon much? I think I am!

The Revlon ColourStay Ultimate Suede Lipstick states that it has a suede effect (meaning matte) and lasts 16 hours. If any lipstick lasts 16 hours then I will be hugely impressed.

Revlon ColourStay Lipstick Colours

Packaging – I love it! The lid is very securely on and it won’t pop of whilst in your handbag.

Application – The lipstick glides on very smooth. With one stroke all the shades are quite sheer. I had to swipe it about four times across my lips to get a strong colour, which is very annoying. Once applied, after a few strokes, they all have a strong pigmentation.

Texture – This is where I start to get confused with this lipstick. When first applied it has a smooth, moisturising, glossing texture that feels really nice on the lips. After about 5-10 minutes the ColorStay lipstick feels likes it sets on the lips and the texture changes to the ‘suede’ effect. The lipstick turns matte and has a slightly sticky texture when you blot your lips together. I love the matte look but I don’t like the (very slight) sticky texture.

16 Hour Wear – The good thing is he lipstick doesn’t transfer onto glasses or smudge whist eating. But… and there is always a but, after a couple of hours the lipstick goes into any creases in your lips, is very uneven and patchy. It may stay on for a long time but not how you applied it. I didn’t take the lipstick out with me when I was wearing it so I had to put on a clear lipgloss to smooth out the patchiness, which worked

Removal – It doesn’t stain, WoooooHooooo! I used a makeup wipe to remove it and it came of with a little scrub.

Overall -I would have to carry it in my bag and reapply it about every  2-3 hours to stop any creasing, so the 16 hours wear maybe true but it just won’t look very nice. The main plus for the ColorStay Suede lipstick is that is does not transfer off the lips. My boyfriend was amazed that when I kisses him it felt like I had nothing on my lips. This is a big bonus for me as I can’t even normally peck him on the check without getting lipstick all over his face.

I have a lot of the colour range so I don’t think I will be running out fast to re-purchase any of them. My favourite colours are the deep plum (35 – Backstage) and deep pink (5 – Muse).

They can be found in high-street retailers for £8.99. Boots currently selling them for £6.99.

The Revlon ColurStay Ultimate Suede Lipstick is long lasting, matte and has wearable colours but the few glitches it has, are big ones. I would definitely advise you to exfoliate your lips beforehand to prevent creasing.

My Everyday Makeup

21 Mar

This is the makeup that I wear on a daily basis. Nothing fancy just my everyday look.

If its the weekend or a night out I will juzz it up a lot more with different brands, eyeshadows, highlighters and maybe even eyelashes.

My basic make up never stays the same for long. I get bored with products and switch it up mainly changing foundations, eyeliners and blushers.

FoundationRevlon Photoready. I am loving this foundation. I rarely buy a foundation twice as usually when I get to the end of the bottle my skin starts behaving weird with it, but I am on my second bottle of this. The coverage is great and great for combination skin.

PowderRimmel Stay Matte. Light coverage that makes my face matt. I do lightly brush my face with this powder again by midday as my skin does get oily.

BronzerBenefit 10 – This is a bronzer and highlighter and I have to admit it is not my favourat product. I went to buy Dallas but they were out of stock so I thought I would try 10. It doesn’t have a strong enough bronze for me but I use it as my everyday makeup so it doesn’t go to waste.

Mascara – Maybelline The Falsies – Easy to apply, thick coverage with only 2 coats. This is undeniably a great mascara for everyone by I only wear it in for everyday normal occasions as I have long eyelashes which touch my brow so I find that it can leave marks above and below my eyes when worn for too long.

Eyeliner – Revlon Colourstay Liquid Eye Pen – I discovered these eyeliner pens recently and find them so quick and easy to use compared to usual liquid eyeliners. Smooth lines on top lid and they make it easy to do flicks at the end of your eye.

Eyebrows – Benefit Brow Zings – I love this brow kit. It comes with shaping wax, powder, brushes and mini tweezers. Downfall is the guy at the Benefit counter told me to go for the medium colour but when I got home the colour was too dark. I do need the light shade but will use this until it runs out.

Lipstick – Mac Yasha – I usually wear nude lips in the daytime so this matte light brown is perfect for me. It gives my lips a bit of colour and helps shape them.

Lip Balm – Body Shop Born Lippy Stick, Toffee – Smells amazing, easy to apply and does the jobs of keeping my lips smooth with a very light tinted colour as a bonus.

Barry M Textured Nail Effect

27 Feb

I have been loving Barry M Nail Polish for many years now. When I first tried it out I was surprised at how it didn’t chip for a few days. I don’t know if everyone else finds that this is the case but most of the other polishes chip on the day I apply it.

So I thought I’d try out the Textured Nail Effect a baby pink (Kingsland Road 305) and the yellow (Atlantic Road).

Barry M Textured Nail Effect

I love the gritty, matte look that they has and the light colours are great for the spring season. It does leave a rough texture and look a little bit like coloured sand which I know may not be to everybody’s taste but I think that these polishes are something different and unique. I found it is very easy to apply. I only need two coats as it have a good coverage.

Barry M Textred Nail Polish

After a days wear, there was a tiny chip on one nail but apart from that they look great. I had many people at work comment on them.

Quite fitting, these polishes are named after markets in East London, where I am currently living. This may have something to do with why I love the look.

They come in 4 shades and can be found at Boots

What do you guys think of these polished? Do you prefer the shiny look?
